Cooking Spatula – Birch Wood from the Swiss Alps

A hand-carved 45 cm long cooking spatula that I carved from birch wood I foraged while working as a cook in the swiss alps. It is coated with walnut oil for added protection.  This piece has very elaborate ornaments as it was my way of creative expression while working on a mountain hut. The surrounding beauty of the mountains definetlty influenced this piece. The mountain air made the tree fibres more condensed than in regular birch wood, making it perfect for everyday use. While it can be regularly washed, it’s recommended to avoid the dishwasher and prolonged water exposure.
